I’m an artist, a conservationist, and a doer.

Hi There, I’m Monica.

As the granddaughter of a professional calligrapher, I’ve practiced the art of calligraphy for years, producing signs, Quaker wedding certificates, and custom work for friends and family. Pottery has been less constant in my life. I first learned how to throw on the wheel in middle school, but abandoned it for other artistic pursuits. Fortunately, the hunt for a pandemic hobby brought me back to this slippery medium, and I have fully embraced my identity as a “mud person.” As for design, I’ve picked up some skills during college and throughout my professional career working in communications for conservation organizations and media publications.

In 2022, I combined all of these activities in my biggest art project to date: my wedding. From creating custom watercolors and designing all of the stationery and our wedding website, to addressing every single envelope with my calligraphy and making 160 candlesticks, 50 vases, 3 platters, and our Quaker wedding certificate, I did it all. Too much, if you ask my husband Brett. But I loved every moment of creation, and now I’m thrilled to have the chance to share my crafts with you!

MORE ABOUT ME

Where am i located?

I live in Fort Collins, Colorado, but I am happy to work with anyone from anywhere, and can ship my pieces within the U.S. and Canada. Reach out to me if you are located elsewhere!

What inspires me?

Nature, things that make me laugh, my cat Marge, and color. I am also #blessed to have some incredibly creative friends and talented DIY-er parents who inspire me constantly.

What about the conservationist part?

I work full-time doing communications and graphic design at CSU’s Warner College. Catch me at a party making sure everything has been properly recycled.

things i do in my free time?

Thrifting — it gives me a thrill to find a discarded treasure after I’ve sorted through shelves of stuff. I am also an avid biker and love playing tennis, hiking, skiing, camping, and hosting game nights with my friends.

And the Quaker bit?

I’m a born-and-raised Quaker and a member of Downingtown Friends Meeting. Quakers are pacifists, and we like to sit in silent meditation. Contrary to popular belief, we are not Amish.

What am i watching?

Survivor, Below Deck, Drag Race, Real Housewives, and Succession. I have a not-so-secret dream to be cast on Survivor.

My Approach

I love putting my all into a project. And there isn’t a better feeling than bringing someone joy through my work.

  1. Understanding your Vision | Whether you want a custom piece of pottery, your favorite poem captured in a beautiful script, or a cookbook that includes all of your favorite family recipes, I’m here to listen and make things happen. We’ll start with a simple questionnaire to cover the basics, with a follow-up phone call or Facetime if necessary.

  2. Timeline & Budget | This is the most important part of any project! Come to me early if you have a firm deadline.

  3. Drafting | I’ll prepare a few different options for you, and then we’ll go through a 3-phase review process to hone in on the final design and aesthetic for your project.

  4. Go Time | Once I get started, I’ll check in with you to provide progress updates and answer any questions you may have.
